2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (Manual) - WR TV POV Canyon Drive
Some days at work are better than others. Yearning for more seat time after our stint with the 707hp muscle car in Portland back in July, we happily accepted the red key at an event held where Kanan Road meets Mulholland Highway in the lovely hills of Malibu and headed out to the twisting stretches of picturesque road in this supercharged bruiser – here equipped with the Viper-derived six-speed manual transmission – with the Pacific Ocean as our backdrop. Some days, indeed. Unlike our street drive on the back roads around Portland, this time around the roads were virtually devoid of traffic, giving the Hellcat a chance to properly stretch its legs and allowing us to evaluate its 0-60 mph and 60-0 mph manners, along with its handling behaviors on the undulating pavement of Mulholland Highway and the demanding corners found throughout. http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/wr-tv-2015-dodge-challenger-srt -hellcat-pov-canyon-drive/ 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Price: $59,995 (base), $65,265 Engine: 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Output: 707hp / 650lb-ft 0-60 mph: 3.5 seconds On Sale: August 2014 Read our thoughts on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat here: http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/driven-2015-dodge-challenger-sr t-hellcat/ Wear headphones! 2014 Ferrari FF - WR TV POV Test Drive
Today we’re fortunate enough to be behind the wheel of another one of Maranello’s finest, the FF. The first all-wheel-drive vehicle in the company’s history, the FF replaces the 612 Scaglietti in Ferrari’s lineup. The shooting brake design of the FF is said to recall the shape of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Drogo race car and also draws some inspiration from stable mates like the 458 Italia and the 599 GTB Fiorano. The FF is powered by a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 making 651 horsepower and 504 pound-feet of torque, which is connected to a seven speed dual clutch transmission similar to the unit found on the F12 Berlinetta. Ferrari’s own patented 4RM all-wheel-drive system then routes the power to each of the four wheels as needed, leaving the car most often in a traditional rear drive layout. Among the numerous highlights of the FF, carbon ceramic brakes, magnetorheological dampers, and an electrically controlled rear differential all come as standard. This particular example comes loaded with options, including a panoramic roof, sport Exhaust system, diamond-stitched seats, special 20” forged wheels and a premium audio system, bringing the grand total to $371,108. So what’s it like to experience $370,000 worth of Italian supercar? 2015 Ferrari California T (Top Up) - WR TV POV Test Drive
For 2015, Ferrari’s best-selling vehicle becomes the first turbocharged road car from Maranello in 25 years. Perhaps seen as a concession to tightening emissions and fuel economy standards, any notion of the California’s reduced displacement and newfound forced induction as a drawback goes right out the window when you see and hear what it’s now capable of. According to Vittorio Dini, Ferrari's head of powertrain development, supercharging was also considered, but turbocharging ultimately got the nod. The drivetrain now consists of a front-mid-mounted 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 outputting 553 horsepower and 557 pound-feet of torque - increases of 70hp and 50 percent more torque than the naturally aspirated California that the T replaces. That new Boosted motor is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the result of this new powertrain combination is that the 3800-pound California T now gets to 60 mph from a standstill is just 3.5 seconds. Subtle styling tweaks give the California T a fresh look and the grand tourer still offers a retractable hard top that opens or closes in 14 seconds and retains its 47 percent front / 53 percent rear-biased weight balance. On sale now, despite the big jump in performance, the California T actually cuts $4000 from the asking price of the outgoing California and now lands at $198,000. http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/wr-tv-2015-ferrari-california-t / Special thanks goes out to Aaron Bambach at Cauley Ferrari in West Bloomfield, MI.
