Daytime Street Hits – Nissan GT-R vs. Neon SRT-4 and VW GTI

August 2nd, 2023

Typically shrouded in a cloak of darkness, street racing can be an ominous game. These competitors are bringing it into the sunshine – and taking it south of the border – for some roll racing on the streets of Mexico. Yee hah!

Featured in this clip is the flagship of the Nissan lineup. Affectionately nicknamed “Godzilla”, the GT-R has been known to terrorize urban areas. Equipped with a twin turbocharged 3.8-liter V6, the all-wheel drive GT-R can muster up 565hp and 467 lb.-ft. of torque in factory condition. The stock GT-R can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11.3-seconds @ 125.5 mph. This car has been modified with a set of performance exhaust downpipes and a full accoutrement of bolt-ons. It has also been tuned to burn E85 fuel. Should be a real monster.

In the other lane, the Dodge Neon SRT-4 comes with a turbocharged 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder that can produce 360hp in stock trim. The car you see in this video is outfitted with a larger turbo, upgraded camshafts and tuned to burn E85 fuel. Turbo mods often result in a substantial increase in performance. The little Dodge should be a handful.

The VW has also been modified to improve performance.

Buckle-up. It’s about to get real.
