8-Second Box Chevy on Twenty-Fours

July 1st, 2021

It’s official. My mind is blown. This guy is running a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice with some 24-inch sticky tires on the rear. What’s truly impressive is that it runs in the eights – consistently! Check out the action from Street Car Takeover Charlotte.

On the business end of this donk is a 7.0-liter LS motor. Stuffing air into the big motor are a pair of 72-millimeter turbochargers. Maximum output is estimated at 1,300hp. The heavy Chevy has a Powerglide transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear end.

As a full-time builder for Mayhem Motorsports (North Carolina), this owner/driver put his Box Chevy together in his spare time. With a name like BoostDoctor, I’ll let you guess his specialty.

On the initial pass, BoostDoctor throws up an 8.95 @ 155.4 mph on his way to embarrassing a serious looking Cadillac CTS-V that ran in the tens.

The doctor is in for the next pass (BoostDoctor, that is). He easily opens up a can of whoop ace on a Dodge Challenger Hellcat posting an 8.99 @ 154.42 mph.

BoostDoctor proves to be tough on the tree in race three with an 8.85 @ 157.28 mph and a victory over a pretty lady in a widely recognized Cadillac CTS-V.

Lots more top tier drag racing action here. Don’t miss out.
