2017 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2016 Chevy Camaro SS – Drag Race

October 10th, 2023

In staging an unlikely affair between a luxury car and a muscle car, the Hoonigan Group have silenced the haters once again. Here is a 1,000-foot drag racing throwdown between an 820hp Cadillac CTS-V sedan and a 1,040hp Chevrolet Camaro SS. Obviously, both cars have been modified to enhance performance. The Caddy is dyno certified. The Camaro has a lip service guarantee. Let’s take a closer look.

The 4,146-pound rear-wheel drive 2017 Cadillac CTS-V is powered by a supercharged LT4 6.2-liter V8 engine. The rear-wheel drive 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS (3,840-pounds) is equipped with a ProCharged LT1 6.2-liter V8.

Outfitted with an 8-speed automatic transmission, shifting the Caddy is a no-brainer. Just point and shoot. Shifting the Camaro is a bit more labor-intensive with its 6-speed manual gearbox.

As far as upgrades, the Cadillac has been tricked out with a performance camshaft, ported cylinder heads, ported supercharger, twin methanol injection systems and an oversize throttle body. It’s on Weld wheels and it has stock brakes and suspension. The interior also remains stock. Oh, by the way, that’s 820whp.

Camaro mods include premium engine internals, ProCharger forced air induction and triple methanol injection. It also has a bevy of bolt-ons and oversize fuel injectors. There is also a questionable button on the steering wheel. Laughing gas?

Time to race.
