Whipple Ford Mustang vs. Big Turbo MKIV Toyota Supra – Street Hits

May 20th, 2024

As the warn nights of summer settle upon us, high-level roll racing takes to the streets of Mexico. This evening delivers a contest between a pair of purpose-built cars capable of mind-numbing acceleration and extreme levels of speed. Hold on to your hats, this one is going to be sheer pandemonium.

First on the card is the 1994 Toyota Supra. As far as Supras go, this is a spectacular example. At the heart of this creampuff is a turbocharged inline 6-cylinder 3.0-liter engine. The engine has been fortified with premium internals and the turbo is a Precision 7275 with all the key supporting mods. The widebody look comes from expert custom fabrication (not a kit). You might notice that the tires are not ideal for street racing when your whip is laying down 800whp.

In the opposite lane is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT. Running a Gen 2 V8 Coyote engine with a 2.9-liter supercharger (roots type), the Mustang is also laying down more than 800whp. Unlike the Supra, the Ford is running slicks and skinnies. It has also undergone a certain degree of weight reduction with racing brake upgrades. Both cars are tuned to burn E85 fuel.

I am so ready for this supercharger versus turbocharger battle.
