Toyota Supra vs. BMW M3 Comp – Street Hits

July 25th, 2023

As two sides of the same coin, the Supra and the M3 should be a close contest. These guys will be hooking-up on the interstate (down in Mexico) for some feisty roll racing action. Shall we check out the machinery?

Among their many similarities, both these cars are very blue. Almost identically blue.

The A91 Toyota Supra GR is the flagship model. Under the hood is a turbocharged and intercooled 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. A rear-wheel drive coupe, the Supra GR features an automatic transmission and direct fuel injection. In stock condition the Supra GR is capable of producing 382hp and 368 lb.-ft. of torque. Car and Driver Magazine says the Supra can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1-seconds and conquer the quarter-mile in 12.1-seconds @ 117 mph. The Supra weighs 3,400-pouunds.

On the other hand, the BMW M3 Competition comes equipped with a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder that can generate 473hp and 407 lb.-ft. of torque. Tipping the scale at 3,840-pounds, the M3 Comp has a 6-speed manual gearbox. In factory trim, the M3 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11-seconds @ 124 mph.

Let’s join our man Frank to get this party started.
