Restomod 1968 Chevy Chevelle – 650HP ProCharged Beast

September 21st, 2022

Shawn from Autotopia LA has found another extraordinary restomod for us tonight. This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle has been a longsuffering project that has netted what can only be called special results. Let’s take a closer look.

Car owner, Kyle tells us the story of him and his grandpa buying the Chevelle more than 20-years ago – before revealing what’s under the hood. It’s a big V8 (383 stroker) truck motor with four bolt mains. The engine has been built to be virtually indestructible under serious performance specifications. On motor only, the Chevelle was pushing 400hp. Shortly after that came the ProCharger centrifugal supercharger. With a fuel system upgrade and some additional tuning, the old Chevy was now capable of producing approximately 650hp. That called for a transmission and rear end upgrade. The new tranny is a 4L80E (from a 2500 series truck) and the rear end is a 12-bolt GM unit.

UMI tubular suspension components with cross braces, and fully adjustable shocks help to smooth out the hills and straighten the curves. The wheels are from Ridler.

The interior and trunk are immaculate in leather, as is the analog instrument cluster. The paint is a custom shade of gray.

Mount up and let’s hit the road for a test drive.
