All-Out-Call-Out – New Mexico Style

September 23rd, 2019

Dueling in the desert is as old as the West itself. In days of yore (yes, yore) cowboys used to get to get it on with six guns and long rifles. Today’s cowboys are doing battle with their race cars. These vehicles are radically (sometimes) modified for the purpose of racing in a straight line for a short distance. All-Out-Call-Out Albuquerque 2019 will force these modified monsters to navigate a 15.4-mile street course (without unscheduled stops) before being allowed to participate in the dig racing action. Should be interesting.

As the name of the event implies, this weekend is centered around a competitor call out format. There are about a half-dozen classes from “Slow Poke” to “Let It Eat”. Competitors receive raffle tickets that determine the call out order. These guys and gals are very meticulous in choosing their opponent by round. All classes are set up for bracket racing, except Let It Eat, which is an all-out heads-up showdown of who is fastest.

Slow Poke and Street Fighter Classes had test runs on Friday night. Big Boy Class and Heavy Hitter Class took their test passes on race day. The Let It Eat Class had their testing during the lower-class rounds. This helps to keep the crowd engaged, even during the slower action.

You don’t want to miss this one. There are some excellent rounds of racing here!
