Super Snake F-150 vs. Camaro ZL1 – Street Hits

August 31st, 2021

You boys (and girls) like Mexico? I sure hope so because we are about to dip down south for a grudge match between a twin turbocharged Ford F-150 pickup and a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with straight-piped exhaust. Turbocharged versus supercharged? It’s about to get real when the rubber meets the road.

The Ford F-150 Super Snake comes from the Shelby plant with your choice of either a naturally aspirated or supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine. The one began life as a N/A truck an had a Helion twin turbo setup added. Precision wastegates and blowoff valves, along with a Hellhorse fuel injection system round out the engine bay.

The ZL1 Camaro is the top of the heap. It features an all-aluminum 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that can generate 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. With headers and straight-piped exhaust (no mufflers) plus miscellaneous bolt-ons, this Chevy is bowed up and pulling real hard on the leash.

With fresh AMS Oil in both vehicles, these two competitors take to the highway. The initial pass begins and ends in similar fashion – door-handle-to-door-handle. This was a seriously close race.

The second pull proves a little more challenging for the Ford as he breaks traction and falls behind at the jump. The Super Snake never recovers and the Camaro smokes him.

Hit number three – there’s got to be a tie breaker, right?
