Nitrous Sucking C5 Corvette vs. Turbo 2JZ Swapped 240SX – Drag Race

August 24th, 2022

This video documents a crazy race on a closed course. These competitors are at the top of their game. The name of the game is “Speed”.

Purpose built to tackle the standing mile, the C5 ‘Vette FRC (Fixed Roof Coupe) is powered by a 402 cubic-inch LS3 engine upgraded with a Smeding Performance crankshaft, a set of forged pistons and HP connecting rods. The intake manifold setup consists of a Sheer Performance lid with a Holley Hi-Ram plenum. The combination feeds a set of Smeding 11-degree cylinder heads. The motor is designed for use with forced induction power adders, but this puppy gets a double shot of laughing gas (nitrous) instead. That’s an extra 200hp. Substantial body, chassis and brake modifications helped spur Jake and his Corvette to a personal best of 206 mph in the standing mile. Today, he’s wearing slicks for some drag racing.

In the other lane is Basan and his 2JZ (Toyota inline six-cylinder motor) swapped 1996 Nissan 240SX. Premium engine internals include CP pistons and BC connecting rods with BC camshafts. The cylinder head and valvetrain are fortified with aftermarket performance goodies. Dual fuel pumps keep time with the Garrett 6766 turbocharger and the car can generate 800hp.

Both cars have manual transmissions, and both weigh nearly 3,000-pounds. Should be a good race.
