EVEL 1000HP All-Motor 1955 Chevrolet Restomod

June 12th, 2023

Evel Knievel is the inspiration behind this stunning 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. Inside and out – even under the hood – this car offers spectacular custom features, all of which the king of the dare devils would certainly approve. Brought to us by Shawn (AutotopiaLA), this shoebox Chevy is a one-of-a-kind treasure. Let’s join Shawn and Tony from Lakeside Customs as they “kick the tires” on this incredible old coupe.

Making this heavy Chevy go is a 712 cubic-inch Merlin engine block with a set of Dart Big Chief cylinder heads. Fuel is delivered via a Kinsler fuel injection setup. With no power adders, the massive engine is capable of producing 1,096hp. As with the rest of the car, the engine bay is amazingly clean and organized. The exhaust system is configured with 2.5-inch headers and 3-inch pipes.

The transmission is a TCI TH400 (GM) automatic with a Gear Vendor overdrive. Out back, the rear end is a Strange (Ford) 9-inch.

Kugel suspension components are plentiful on the front and rear. They are brilliantly integrated into an Art Morrison race car chassis. A fully adjustable Ridetech Shockwave air ride system keeps the belly from dragging. The brakes are Wilwood disc on all four corners with a Kugel vacuum power brake setup underneath the dash. The wheels are from Budnik and they are wrapped in Hoosier rubber.

No words can describe the interior. Just watch the video and get ready for the test drive.
