February 18th, 2022

Cleetus McFarland and his band of merry men rolled into South Georgia Motorsports Park for Day 4 of Sick Week 2022 in full force. In play are the twin turbo Mullet El Camino, the radical twin turbo ‘Ruby’ Corvette and the menacing supercharged Mercury Marauder. With three days of index drag racing to their credit, these guys are dialed-in to go as fast as they can – without breaking out. Let’s join the action. Ruby is first to tow the line. She’s running against a pretty Chevy with a ton of attitude. Leaving the hole straight and true, Ruby posts Read More

Rolling Coal – World’s Fastest Diesel Drag Truck

February 27th, 2021

Congratulations are in order for the Firepunk Diesel Drag Truck team. The Firepunk crew managed to get their Cummins diesel-powered 2000 Chevrolet S10 Pro Stock truck into the history books by posting an eighth-mile pass of 3.988-seconds @ 182.67 mph. While that might not be good enough to win the event, it is good enough to set a World Record for a diesel-powered dragster. Competing in the Radial Versus the World Class at 2021 Lights Out 12 (South Georgia Motorsports Park), the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel-powered S10 accomplished a feat that was unheard of a mere decade ago. Gold Dust Mustang Crushes Eighth-Mile

August 29th, 2017

Hello racing fans and welcome to LightsOut8 from the South Georgia Motorsports Park! Among the contenders in the PRO275 Class this weekend, we have none other than Fletcher Cox (owner not driver). Fletcher is an NFL defensive lineman with the Philadelphia Eagles. Fletcher is among the elite defensive linemen in the NFL and loves drag racing. He has built at least two high-powered Mustangs. The one featured in this clip has a very special backstory. Fletcher’s late brother (Trell Cox) loved the sports entertainment (professional wrestling) character known as Gold Dust. The paint job on this car is skillfully done Read More

2JZ Powered S10 Pickup Runs Sixes

April 10th, 2017

At Lights Out 8, down in South Georgia, there was certainly no shortage of S10 pickups . S10 pickup carcasses are everywhere, so it’s relatively easy to pick up a pickup and throw in an LS small block or even a big block and put down a pretty decent pass on the street or strip. Well, the owner of the truck featured in this video chose a slightly different path. Maybe there were no LS engines available in his neck of the woods, perhaps he is a V8-hater, or peradventure that he was going for a lightweight theme – I Read More

World’s Fastest GTO

November 2nd, 2016

Alright, drag racing fans, so that this doesn’t get confusing I’m going to go ahead and tell you that there is not a Chevy Nova featured in this video. However, the guy that owns the feature car (Joe Albrecht), which is billed as the world’s fastest screw-blown 2006 Pontiac GTO, is known as NovaJoe. Who’d a thunk it? The 1/8-mile drag racing action is coming at you from NO MERCY 7 at the South Georgia Motorsports Park in picturesque Claxton, Georgia. NovaJoe is running in the radial tire class. The 1/8-mile world record that is broken is for a radial Read More

No Mercy – Mustang Claims 275 Radial World Record

October 12th, 2016

Welcome race fans to the qualifying rounds of No Mercy 7 at world famous South Georgia Motorsports Park – right off US Hwy 41 in the big town of Cecil, Georgia. Once again, this event is playing host to some of the most radical street machines in the nation. Ziff Hudson is the man of the hour (yes, I said Ziff). He posted a 1/4-mile ET of 4.05-seconds @ 186 mph. This guy is no stranger ground pounding speed as he has been campaigning a Mercury Zephyr on a set of Mickey Thompson 275/60R15 skins for a number of years. Over Read More

3200HP Fox Body Mustang

May 14th, 2016

Some folks say that we do things a little different in the Deep South and I reckon that is true for the most part. However, when it comes to Lights Out 7 events at the South Georgia Motorsports Park, ‘different’ just might mean some of the baddest cars on the planet. Here’s an example: Mustang Mike is campaigning a beautiful Fox Body Mustang with a massive 670-cubic-inch LS7 billet engine and a pair (yes, I said a pair) of ProCharger F1X superchargers making 43-pounds of boost at 7,000 RPM. This car has one of the most unique supercharger setups that Read More

TT Mustang Runs 209 MPH in Eighth-Mile

February 26th, 2016

The South Georgia Motorsports Park plays host to Lights Out 7 and features one of the premier 1/8-mile drag racing tracks in the southeast. Daniel Pharris rolled out his SN95 Ford Mustang to compete in the radial tire class and navigated his way deep into the qualifying rounds while posting consistent ETs in the 3.9-second range at 200 mph and above. The Mustang is propelled by an Alan Johnson 481X 570-cubic inch engine force fed by a pair of Precision 102-millimeter turbochargers. A Fueltech electronic fuel injection system and fuel cell provide the go-go juice and an M &M transmission Read More
