This contest – on the streets of Mexico – pits heavy hitters from two major U.S. automakers. In the left lane is a brand new 2022 Ford Mustang GT500. On the right is a modified C7 (2014-2019) Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Racing will commence at 60 mph. The first competitor to reach 150 mph will be the winner.

The 2022 Ford Mustang GT500 is a beast of a car. With a supercharged (intercooled) 5.2-liter V8 under the hood, the stock GT500 can churn out 760hp and 625 lb.-ft. of torque. At a curb weight of 4,183-pounds, the top-tier Mustang can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11.4-seconds @ 132 mph. The Mustang featured in this video is in stock condition.

Modified with a set of supercharger/crankshaft pulleys, exhaust headers and an E50 tune, the C7 Corvette is noticeably more capable than stock. Outfitted with a supercharged 6.2-liter engine capable of producing 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, the C7 Corvette Z06 can explode from 0 to 60 mph in 2.95-seconds. The flagship ‘Vette weighs 3,637-pounds and can turn a quarter-mile in 10.6-seconds @ 131.6 mph.
