1966 Chevy Chevelle – 760 WHP

February 11th, 2020

This is a tremendous story. The father wants a classic car in the worst way; after he spots it in a local ad. He begins the negotiation process only to be undercut by another buyer. Little does dad know that his wife and son are working behind the scenes to procure the car – a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle – and build it to his dad’s liking. What you see here is the product of a son’s love. This classic Chevy is powered by a 377 cubic-inch small block (not an LS) with a pair of Turbonetics billet 68-millimeter turbos. The Read More

2000HP TT 1964 Chevy Malibu SS

December 24th, 2015

Here’s one awesome looking resto-mod muscle car beefed up with a pair of turbochargers and a built big block engine. It’s dyno day for this fresh build, so the boost pressure is only turned up to about 9psi but this beast still makes 933hp. With a projected boost limit of 24psi – who knows? – possibly over 2,000hp! Key modifications include a built 572-cubic-inch big block, twin Garrett 88-millimeter turbochargers, and a custom built pro-glide transmission. It is also tubbed out to house a set of M&H Racemaster 390s on the rear. The owner says that he built the car Read More

$4000 Quarter-Mile Street Race

Both cars are radically modified and both are running nitrous but which one will take bragging rights in the 1/4-mile? We have a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air that has been tubbed out and fitted with a massive set of drag racing slicks doing battle with a mid-eighties Malibu wagon in some heads-up 1/4 and 1/8-mile racing for some serious money. The Malibu seems to have the advantage early on in the 1/4-mile race but the big box Chevy comes back near the Read More

Trailer Trash LS Malibu Runs 8.90 Quarter-Mile

November 4th, 2015

Building a drag car on a budget ain’t pretty. Building a turbocharged drag car on a budget can get downright ugly. This Malibu may be ugly but the time slips keep getting prettier with each pass. Sure the paint job is a mess, the wheels are mismatched, and the interior is ratty but this Chevy managed to dive down into the eights, putting up an 8.90-second 1/4-mile pass at 150.8 mph. The engine is a stock Chevrolet 5.3-liter LS with a stock crankshaft and cylinder heads. It does have upgraded connecting rods, wrist pins, and pistons. A Borg Warner 88-millimeter Read More
