Stock 2019 ZR1 Wins Street Car Takeover Bowling Green

August 24th, 2020

Surprise, surprise! The owner of this bone stock 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 shows up to SCT Bowling Green just to get in a few rounds. He never dreamed that he’d win the class and take home the trophy. We’ll drop into Round 2 and have a look.

Sometimes it’s about the horsepower, but more times than not, it’s about consistency. This Corvette ZR1 is all about consistency. In bone stock trim, this car has plenty of power and outstanding reliability. Under the hood? How about a supercharged (Lingenfelter) 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of generating 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque? Is that enough to get you going?

After defeating a Mopar in the first round, the stock ZR1 draws a Corvette in the second. Both cars come out of the hole quickly and hook up well on this No Prep surface. Despite the black ‘Vette being modified, the stock ZR1 edges him out near the end. He’s on to the finals.

The Finals of the Hard Tire Class come down to the ZR1 (affectionately known as Marlin) and a 4X4 Dodge Ram pickup with a turbo diesel. Surprisingly, the diesel is the favorite in this one. Again, both vehicles come out of the hole and go straight down the track. The ZR1 takes the stripe less than a car-length ahead of the truck. Great race!
