Mustang 10-Speed Showdown – Twin Turbo vs. Supercharged

July 10th, 2023

Representing two sides of the same coin, we have a matchup between a pair of late model Ford Mustangs. After a blown car show hookup, these guys are headed out to Mexico for some roll racing on the interstate.

Both cars are equipped with 5.0-liter V8 engines and 10-speed automatic transmissions. The late model Mustang GT is fast in stock condition, but these guys have upgraded their pony cars to a radical degree. Let’s have a closer look.

In the left lane is the lime green Mustang. Tuned by Lund Racing, this steed has been modified with an ESS G3 (belt-driven) supercharger kit. The blower is driven with an oversize pulley. This level of forced air induction demands more fuel. That is accomplished with a Fore Stage 2 fuel system that delivers E85. Both these cars are running 3.15:1 rear gears. This bad girl is built for speed.

On the right is the brandy-wine colored Mustang. Taking a different path, this Ford owner chose a Hellion twin turbo kit. The turbochargers are 62-millimeter, and the exhaust is basically open. Sounds loud and proud.

Together these cars are mustering nearly 2,000hp. Can’t wait to get them on the street.
