LS Swapped 280Z Turbo – Tears Up the Street

October 25th, 2018

Ready for a ride along? Our feature car is a 1975 Datsun 280Z. Not a stripped-down zombie wagon, this is a complete street car with nice paint and a great looking interior.

Car owner Chris helped his Dad (Wolf) build the car before his dad passed a short rime ago. The video and the car are dedicated to his memory. Wolf was an old school legend in the car game and he could do anything on a car except build transmissions. Godspeed Wolf, wherever you are I hope you are banging gears and burning rubber everyday. You brought a car back from the brink and left a part of yourself in it (so to speak).

No more inept Datsun mill for this puppy. It has been invigorated with a 5.3-liter LS (V8) engine with ARP internals and LS2 cylinder heads. The turbocharger is a rear-mount single-gate 72-millimeter Chinese unit from ebay. Set to 13-pounds of boost, he’s making approximately 750hp. Tuned by CHenry Motorsports, the LS uses a factory PCM and harness. With a manual gearbox (T56) and a 4.10:1 final drive gear, this little import is more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
