Classic Street Racing Matchup – Camaro vs Mustang

July 14th, 2023

This classic roll racing matchup dates back to the days of the first muscle cars. The Chevrolet Camaro was literally created to compete with the Ford Mustang. Modern versions of these two cars are beyond the wildest imagination of those 60’s auto enthusiasts. Featured in this video are pristine examples of factory innovation and aftermarket support. Enjoy the ride.

Boasting an all-aluminum 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, the 2017 Camaro SS can manufacture 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque in stock condition. The Camaro you see in this clip has been modified with a Magnuson 2650 supercharger (and all the trappings). The LT1 engine is fully built with a set of high-performance cylinder heads and a camshaft upgrade. It’s tuned to burn E85 fuel and now makes approximately 900hp. If the Camaro has an obvious advantage, it’s the tires. This boy dog is running a set of Mickey Thompson 325/50R15 E/T Street slicks. The Mustang has Nitto street rubber.

Wrapped in an eye-catching shade of matte bronze, the stock 2019 Mustang GT is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 motor that can muster up 460hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. This pony car has been enhanced with an ESS G3 supercharger kit and tuned to run on E85 fuel. The Mustang is now capable of producing about 800 – 850hp. An obvious advantage for the Mustang is a 10-speed automatic transmission (the Camaro has a 6-speed manual gearbox).

Shall we get these puppies on the interstate (in Mexico) and see what jumps off?
