Manual Mayhem – Catless Mustang GT350 vs Camaro LT1

October 25th, 2022

Grab on tight because tonight we are hitting the streets with big Frank. He’s got a race staged (down in Mexico) between a pair of gently modified street cars with manual transmissions. Frank will be strapping his camera equipment on the windshield and letting these horses run.

The first car is the legendary Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. It comes from the factory with a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 engine that can generate 526hp and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. This car has a 6-speed manual gearbox and tips the scale at 3760-pounds. Modifications include a cat delete package and an E85 tune.

In the other lane, the Chevrolet Camaro LT1 has been outfitted with a set of exhaust headers with turn downs. It is also tuned to burn E85 fuel. The engine is an all-aluminum 6.2-liter V8 capable of producing 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The Chevy weighs 3619-pounds and has a 6-speed manual transmission.

Roll racing is on the agenda for the evening. This should be a close race.
