It’s summertime in North Texas and the track temp is hotter than the hinges on the door of Hades. Amarillo Dragway – Funny Car Chaos is in town but we’re focusing on an eight-car field embroiled in a Small Tire Shootout.

There are some crazy-awesome cars (and trucks) on hand for this event. Nitrous, supercharged, turbo and twin turbo – and every combination thereof – these competitors are strapped for battle and ready to take home the cash. Testing begins late in the afternoon with money rounds jumping off around dark-thirty. Let’s join the action and see what all the fuss is about.

The track is hot and slick during testing, but anyone can see that the Fox Body crowd is looking great. There is also a pair of blown Camaro entries, a late model Mustang and a crazy twin turbo Chevy S-10 Pickup that are showing out.

With testing finished, Round One pits a classic Nova against a Gen II Camaro with a massive blower. The Camaro gaps the Nova handily and moves on to Round Two.

It’s Round One Race Two and we have our turbo Fox Body taking on the twin turbo S-10. Fox Body hooks up like a charm and rolls hard on the pickup FTW.
