Naturally Aspirated Camaro LT1 vs. Supercharged Challenger Redeye – Daytime Street Hits

April 5th, 2022

While most street racing action occurs under the cover of darkness, this video documents a grudge match that occurred in the bright sunshine. These competitors are letting it all hang out in the broad daylight – and on the streets (of Mexico, that is). Let’s check out the machinery.

The Chevrolet Camaro LT1 is a naturally aspirated car with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The LT1 mill is an all-aluminum (block and heads) 6.2-liter V8 capable of generating 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The factory Camaro LT1 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1-seconds. This car has turned the quarter-mile in 10.8-seconds @ 128 mph (according to the driver). It has been modified (exhaust headers, bolt-ons, tires, weight reduction, etc.) for added performance.

The Dodge Challenger Redeye is the flagship of the Mopar lineup. Under the hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that can churn out an astounding 797hp and 707 lb.-ft. of torque. In stock trim, the Redeye can blast from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4-seconds and eclipse the quarter-mile in 10.8-seconds @ 131 mph. As far as anyone knows, this car is stock.

Both cars are rear-wheel drive only and weigh about the same.

Time to line them up and get down to business.
