7-Second Turbo GMC Sonoma – Street Car Takeover Indy

December 19th, 2019

Welcome drag racing enthusiasts, and speed aficionados of every ilk, to Indianapolis, Indiana for Street Car Takeover. This is No Prep drag racing at its highest level.

Featured in this video is a GMC Sonoma pickup with a big motor. Specifically, an all-aluminum (block and cylinder heads) 5.3-liter V8 with a “good” cam and lots of internal bottom-end upgrades. The turbocharger is a 94-millimeter Pro Mod by Precision. This tiny truck is making plenty of power and coming out of the hole straight and true. Question is: Can he compete with the heavy hitters gathered for Street Car Takeover Indy? Let’s have a look and see.

The action begins with a contest between the Sonoma and a late model Corvette. The tiny truck gets from A to B quickly and concisely for the win. Next up is a run between the tiny truck and a slick looking Nissan GT-R. With its all-wheel drivetrain and powerful engine, the GT-R gets out of the hole first. However, once the Sonoma gets hooked-up, he drives around the Nissan for the victory.

After making quick work of a Camaro, the tiny truck goes against the Fox Body Mustang known as Bam-Bam. Well, the Ford proves that his club is a bit too big for the tiny truck and clobbers him handily. Oh well, you can’t win them all.

From there, it’s on to some timed passes. The tiny truck not only excels, he dips down into the 7-second range for a new personal best. Awesome truck and a well-produced video.
