IROC-Z Restomod vs. BMW M4 – Street Hits

December 15th, 2023

We are taking this thing back to the streets tonight for some roll racing action. This matchup will include an old school domestic entry and a modern entry from the European continent. Prepare yourself for some white-knuckle street racing from down south in Mexico.

Representing the old school – as well as naturally aspirated and domestic – is the 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28. Not your average 80s muscle car, this IROC-Z has been upgraded with a whole new powertrain. At the heart of the beast is an all-aluminum (block and heads) 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine. Used in late model Camaro SS applications, the LS7 is known for bottom end torque. This motor has been upgraded with performance cylinder heads and a performance camshaft. It has also been tuned to burn E85 fuel. The 6-speed manual transmission is a Tremec T-56. He’s claiming 500whp, but he may be playing possum.

Taking up the mantra for the new school is the 2016 BMW M4. Powered by a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder mill, the stock M4 can lay down 425hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. The car featured in the video has upgraded intake manifolds, performance exhaust, a top-mount intercooler and an E50 tune. This bad Beemer is claiming nearly 600hp and has a DCT transmission.
