Ford Mustang GT500 vs. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – Supercharged Street Hits

August 12th, 2022

This video documents the latest chapter in the timeless battle between Camaro and Mustang. This version of each car represents the most capable production version to date. Let’s have a closer look.

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is a beast. Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, the stock Camaro ZL1 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11.0 -seconds @ 129.02 mph. Top speed is 193 mph and maximum output is rated at 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. This specimen has been modified with a cold air intake, exhaust headers and an aftermarket intake manifold. It is also tuned to burn E40 fuel. The Camaro is equipped with a manual transmission. Think that’s an advantage or a disadvantage?

The baddest Mustang ever is the present day GT500. With a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, the factory GT500 is making 760hp and 625 lb.-ft. of torque. This monster of the blue oval has a top speed of 180 mph. It can eclipse the quarter-mile in 11.3-seconds @ 132 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4-seconds. The Mustang has also been modified for performance and has an automatic transmission.

Time to get these two on the interstate (in Mexico) and see what’s up.
