Magnuson Corvette Z06 vs. Mustang GT500 – Street Hits

May 2nd, 2022

Here comes another chapter in the timeless tale of Ford versus Chevy. For as long as either of these automakers have been making muscle cars, they have been lining up against one another on the street. Tonight, we’ll tale it to the interstate (of Mexico) for some 60 mph roll racing action.

On the left, is the 2021 Ford Mustang GT500. The 4,200-pound Mustang is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine. This one has a 10-speed automatic transmission. Key modifications include, an aftermarket intake manifold, a custom crossover exhaust x-pipe, an aftermarket supercharger pulley, an E85 tune and a set of super-sticky Toyo R888 tires. Maximum output? 850whp.

On the right, we have the 2015 (C7) Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The 3500-pound ‘Vette is equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and a 6-speed manual transmission. It has been extensively modified with a Magnuson 2300 supercharger, a set of performance cylinder heads, a performance camshaft, an aftermarket intake manifold, an oversize throttle body, a set of longtube exhaust headers, an E50 tune, a methanol injection system and a set of Nitto NT05R tires.

This seems like a great race on paper, but what will happen when the rubber meets the road? Let’s see.
