European Three-Way – BMW vs. Mercedes vs. Porsche Drag Race

March 25th, 2024

Far across the pond, somewhere in jolly old England, the Carwow staff have assembled a trio of luxurious sports sedans. Currently in various stages of modification, these European models will line up – side-by-side – and put it all on the line in a series of drag races. This should be fun.

On the left is the all-wheel drive BMW M8 Gran Coupe with its 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine. At a curb weight of 4,365-pounds the M8 can produce 625hp at peak RPM. In stock trim this top-tier BMW could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 10.8-seconds @ 129 mph. This car has been modified with complete powertrain tuning. In its current state, this BMW can produce 800hp.

In the middle we have the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. A very bad girl, this Mercedes has a 4.0-liter twin turbo mill, and it can make 740hp with its current modifications. Tipping in at 4,508-pounds, the AMG GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5-seconds and run the standing quarter-mile in 11.8-seconds @ 120 mph. All three of these cars have been tuned by DMS Tuning.

Finally, on the right is the all-wheel drive Porsche Panamera Turbo S. With a twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 motor under the hood, the 4,585-pound Panamera can also churn out 740hp in its current state of modification. Tested in factory condition, the Porsche Panamera could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6-seconds and blast through the quarter-mile in 10.8-seconds @ 127 mph. It is considerably faster now.
