Turbo Porsche – 9-Second Quarter-Mile

August 14th, 2019

Greetings drag racing fans. Allow me to introduce you to Richard Martin and his one-owner Porsche. Even though this car looks like a killer of curves, it will run through the quarter-mile like a scalded dog. Let’s get with Richard and have him give us a run-down of the car.

First of all, it’s a 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S with a stock motor. What makes it special is a ByDesign Stage 4 Kit which includes intercoolers with an IPD intake and plenum. It also has ByDesign tuning and a methanol injection. The turbochargers are upgraded, but details are hazy. They seem to be functioning at a high level.

A BoostLogic full-titanium exhaust system helps to carry spent exhaust gases away from the engine. This cat-less system offers minimal restrictions and maximum performance. I am so anxious to see how it (the Porsche) does on the track.

In the first pass (a solo), the car comes out of the hole strong and blasts through the trap like a rocket. It posts a time of 9.49-seconds @ 146.72 mph. Reasonable for a road car and a new personal best for this Porsche. This pass was run in the heat of the day with the temperature over 85-degrees with high humidity. Cooler temps would likely bring a better pass but that is for another day.

Beautiful beast of an automobile.
