In this day of ever-increasing electric vehicle production, these quiet killers are becoming faster and faster. Tonight, we get a look at one of the most powerful (and heaviest) of the SUV lineup. The 2022 GMC Hummer EV will be taking on the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R in a series of drag races. Here’s a rundown of the hardware involved.

Representing the conventional side is the Raptor pickup. This beast of a four-wheel drive pickup is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The mighty Raptor R tips the scale at 5,960-pounds and has the capacity to produce 700hp.

On the alternative side, the GMC Hummer EV Edition One weighs in at 9,640-pounds. She’s a hefty girl. Utilizing a trio of battery powered direct drive electric motors, the all-wheel drive Hummer EV can generate the equivalent of 1,000hp. That’s instantaneous power to the pavement.

After all the prediction and smack talk, these two heavy half-tons line up for a best-of-three in 1,000-foot drag races. The pretty lady gets caught snoozing on the initial start but comes back strong in the next race. By the third race, she has found her groove and she’s taking no prisoners. Despite the extra weight, the Hummer proves to be the more nimble of these two trucks.
