2015 BMW M4 Convertible 1/4 Mile, 0-60 MPH Testing

November 1st, 2014

The 2015 BMW M4 Convertibles are just starting to arrive at dealers across the US and we got hold of one to do some baseline testing.  The M4 is all new for 2015 and is powered by a 3.0L I6 Twin Turbo engine producing 425 horsepower (although dyno results show the engine is making much more power).   Our  car was painted in a striking Sakhir Orange with matching interior has the optional 7 speed dual clutch transmission along with the driving assistance package, executive package, full leather seating, M adaptive suspension, 19″ Black wheels and a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system.  The MSRP came in at $87,925.

While the new M3 and M4s have an adjustable launch control system, our car didn’t have it’s first service where they activate the launch control, so our testing was done without it by just stepping on the accelerator from idle.  Even so, the M4’s 406 ft-lbs of low-end torque from it’s Twin Turbo system produced some impressive numbers.

At Palm Beach International Raceway we ran two consecutive 12.6x @ 115.x MPH runs with 0-60 MPH coming up in just 4.2 seconds and 0-100 MPH in 9.8 seconds.  The VBOX also recorded a 60-130 time of 12.2 seconds.  We plan on returning back to the track after launch control is activated and expect to drop the 1/4 mile times down in the very low 12’s with some decent launches.  Take a look at videos, timeslip data and picture gallery below.
