The Cayman R was introduced in 2011, and is based on a 2009 Cayman S. It features a new body kit, new 19 inch lightweight wheels, lighter aluminium doors, lighter bucket seats, and together with the removal of the radio, storage compartments, air-conditioners and door handles, the Cayman R weighs in at 54.8 kilograms (121 lb) less than a Cayman S. With the help of the new sports suspensions, the Cayman R is 20 mm (0.8 in) lower than a Cayman S. The engine is a 3.4-litre flat six Direct Fuel Injection DFI boxer engine which produces 330 hp (246 kW). The standard Cayman R can achieve 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, and with the optional 7-speed PDK dual clutch transmission and the Sport Chrono package, it can achieve 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The Cayman R with the manual transmission can reach the top speed of 175 mph (282 km/h), and 174 mph (280 km/h) with the PDK.[37]
The Porsche Cayman R made its world debut at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show on 17 November 2010.

Der Cayman soll vor allem jüngeren Menschen den Kauf ihres womöglich ersten Porsches schmackhaft machen. Denn der 911er ist deutlich teurer und die Kundschaft meist eher älter. Mit Preisen ab circa 51.400 Euro ist er immer noch kein Schnäppchen, doch im Vergleich zu einem ähnlich gut ausgestatteten 911er, bei dem 100.000 Euro und mehr schnell erreicht sind, ist der Cayman für jüngere Menschen eher erschwinglich.
Der Neue ist in allen Disziplinen besser als sein Vorgänger. Ausgestattet mit nun 275 PS in der Basisversion oder mit 325 PS als S-Variante, kann er von null auf hundert in 5 Sekunden spurten. Wenn er darf, kommt er nun schon recht nah an die 300er-Marke ran: Mit dem Cayman S sind 283 km/h Spitze möglich.

Porsche was testing the 918 at the Nurburgring, they invited us to take a quick ride on the road, not on the track sadly. I normally hate these shotgun features, unless they involve Group B cars, but the 918 needs some understanding.

The third generation of the two-seat mid-engine sports coupe is lower, longer, lighter and faster than the old model, yet more efficient, Porsche says. The base model has a 2.7-liter, 275 horsepower engine, while the sportier Cayman S has a 3.4-liter motor with 325 horsepower. The S can hit 60 mph from a standing start in 4.4 seconds. The Cayman goes on sale in the spring and starts at $52,600.

Today I had a first look at the all new 2013 Porsche Cayman and Cayman S Type 981c. The white car is the standard Cayman with the 2,7 liter engine making 275hp, the red one ( it's not orange, I just played too much with my camera ) is the 3,4 liter Cayman S with 325 hp.
