This Electric E36 Makes 850 lb/ft of Torque at the Wheels! - /TUNED
EV West isn't like other electric car builders. They aren't trying to save the planet from gasoline emissions, they are trying to build race cars using electric technology for events that can best use that technology. The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, with a total driving distance of under 20 miles at very high elevation, is one of those events. We take their Pike's Peak M3 to the Dyno to find out what 400 Kilowatts means in horsepower, then to see how it drives.

EV West Pikes Peak Official Run 2012 - Electric BMW M3 - First Converted Car to Race
Here's our official timed run for the 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We had an issue with a couple of Go Pro cameras due to the delays caused by Monster Tajima's fire, and Dallenbach's crash, so unfortunately, we don't have in-car footage. The EV West M3 holds the mountain record with an 11:58.929 for a street converted car. Good enough for 4th in electric, and beating out last year's world record (later to be beaten by Toyota MG).
EV West Electric Beetle Conversion - Wife Takes A Drive With a Manual Trans in a Zelectric VW Bug
Take a quick ride with Julie as she drives a manual transmission for the first time. Since the Beetle is electric, there is no need to slip the clutch, so learning to drive a manual is a breeze. The car is simply put into third gear, and driven without any shifting while in motion, making it even easier than an automatic.
