For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/jwx5w9f This 1957 Thunderbird was originally exported to Italy where it lived the majority of its life before returning stateside and eventually being revitalized by the T-bird specialists at Hill's Automotive in Racine, Ohio. The car is one of just 1,363 1957 Thunderbirds originally equipped with the E-code 312ci V8 which remains in place today, backed by a 3-speed automatic, and plenty of great options like power, steering, power brakes, an AM radio, and power windows. If you're looking for limited-run Ford iron in an iconic package, this Thunderbird is an absolute homerun. Looking down the side of the car, the sheet metal is respectably straight and the car shows with an overall sense of authenticity. According to the data plate, the car left Dearborn wearing a coat of Raven Black paint and Raven Black is exactly what you'll find today. The paint work has a great luster and highlights the car's sharp lines well. The body is completed by show-quality chrome, glass, and stainless throughout. Ford introduced the 312ci Y-block V8 in 1956 and, by the following year, offered three variants of that engine. This T-bird is powered by the desirable E-code dual quad version rated at 270hp from the factory. The block is dressed in Ford Red (read: orange) and wears a correct ECZ-6015-C casting number on its side. The major hardware is correct and details like the reproduction hoses, "See Clear" windshield washer bag, and replicated inspection marks throughout offer this bay an authentic presentation that you'll be proud to show off. Behind the 312, a correct Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission takes care of shifting before sending power back to the Ford 9-inch rear with standard-issue 3.10 gears. Around the drivetrain, the suspension stays true to Ford design with a double A-arm front and leaf spring rear. When the roads get twist, , factory power steering and power-assisted drum brakes are both in place to maximize driver input. Combined with the front sway bar, this Ford is a surprisingly nimble machine. Dramatic styling was king in the 1950s and it certainly didn't stop on the outside. Between the doors of this Ford, a bright red vinyl interior offers seating for two with plenty of bonus features. The original metric speedometer has been lost to history but options like power windows, a power bench seat, and the Town and Country radio more than make up for it. With it's Italian history, desirable E-code 312, and an impressive list of factory options, this Thunderbird is a unique piece ready to be enjoyed immediately. Numbers matching 245hp 312ci engine, numbers matching 3 speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. History, condition, and options, this one's got it all! Purchased new by the most recent owner's mother, this absolutely jaw-dropping gorgeous 1957 Thunderbird has recently completed a meticulous nut and bolt body-off rotisserie restoration, and is ready to show. According to this same owner, this car has never left the south, which we don't doubt one bit when looking at the underside of this car. The story goes that the original owner sold the car off years ago, and it was parked shortly thereafter because of a broken-off dipstick in the crankcase. Years went by, and even a barn was built around the car where it was parked. Several years later, the original owner's son found the car and bought it back, eventually restoring it to its current condition. The exterior of this car is showroom fresh with excellent paint, showing a deep shine. Convertible top is new and in excellent condition; original hardtop is in very nice condition as well. Exterior door handles are either new or rechromed, and in very nice condition; weatherstripping is also new. Bumpers have been rechromed, and the stainless has been polished to a brilliant luster. Taillights are new and in excellent condition. A set of correct style wire wheels has been added, and are in excellent condition with wide whitewall radial tires showing 10/32nds tread remaining. The interior of this 1957 Ford Thunderbird shows new door panels, loop carpet, seat covers, and dash pad. Gauges have been restored and feature a working clock, and the steering wheel is in particularly nice condition as well. Once again, EVERYTHING inside this car is either new or refurbished, making this car as close as you can get to a brand new 1957 Thunderbird. Although not currently installed, the original unrestored radio will come with this car as well. Trunk is equally as well detailed and restored, featuring correct labels and a Goodyear bias-ply whitewall spare. The original engine in this car shows its factory aluminum dress-up kit and chrome air cleaner, which are in very nice condition. Correct washer bag is in place, as are factory style labels. Holley carburetor reads ED-5750897, and the intake manifold reads ECZ-9425-B. Front disc brakes have been added, as well as a reliable 12V electrical system, and an original style power bench seat. The paint on the engine block shows some light wear from the few miles that have been put on it since the restoration. A/C compressor is Sanden style. The frame on the car is just as nice as the exterior and interior; the ENTIRE underside has been refinished, and shines possibly better than it was when it was new. New bushings were installed when the body was off. This car represents the best of the best in 1957 Thunderbirds -- call us now because this one won't last at this price!
