Real 1969 Chevelle SS 396 finished in the original Le Mans blue color with black vinyl top and interior. Powered by a 396 big block producing 350 HP and 415 ft/lbs of torque. This car's engine block is a JC suffix code which is correct for a 69 Chevelle SS396 but it did not originally come in this Chevelle. The deluxe SS interior features bucket seats, center console, wood-grain inserts and a factory in-dash tachometer. The wheels are OEM style 5-spoke SS Mags riding on Firestone Wide Oval tires. This car spent the majority of its life in North Carolina until it was purchased by a Michigan man in 2003, and moved north. When he got the car home, he started to restore it. Once he had the car stripped down, he found that it still had the original quarters and floors, and was rust free. Since the car already had a great base, he had it professionally repainted to its current orange color.
Today, you will find this car to be as straight and solid as the day it rolled off the assembly line. This Chevelle has a stunning fit, the lips and seals are clean and the doors open and close with a strong solid feel. The chrome bumpers and stainless trim are pristine. I love the SS badging, it's the little details that make a car like this stand out. Sitting at all four corners are SS Rallye wheels with BF Goodrich tires (2/45/0/14 rear and 2/25/60/14 front).
The previous owner told us that he dropped in a 396 ci motor (casting number is 3955272) and a M21 transmission out of a 1969 Chevelle SS. We can't prove if this is true or not, but this Chevelle has a TON of power. The motor compartment in this beast has a ton of upgrades, including: an Edelbrock carb, chrome valve covers, rebuilt wiper motor, rebuilt alternator with a sweet coat of bare metal paint, a new battery, Stocker distributor, and more. The Exhaust manifolds are in great shape! The power brake system has a ton of new components as well, the power Booster, master cylinder, lines and proportioning valve are all new. There are new pressure lines on the power steering and the pump is in great shape. The radiator is in awesome shape, and there is a new washer jug too! The underside of the hood has a stunningly smooth coat of black paint and new insulation. They didn't miss a singe detail under the hood!
Underneath the car, you'll find a fresh chassis and floorpans that, like the cars exterior panels and engine, have been restored to the absolute highest standards. The Muncie M21 4-speed transmission is mated to a 12 bolt rear end. Out back you will find a new gas tank with a fresh coat of paint, new shocks, new springs and a rear sway bar. There are new fuel lines, new brake lines, nice bushings and new bolts. The lower control arms are reinforced, there are new wheel cylinders and the drive shaft has a fresh coat of paint. The floorboards and frame are painted with a beautiful coat of chassis black, there is no pitting, no holes, no patches and no rust. This is one super solid, super clean undercarriage. The 2.5" aluminum Exhaust has Flowmaster mufflers and sounds awesome. Up front, the lower control arms have new bushings and ball joints, there are new sway bar links, and new steering gear. The front disc brakes have new components and perform perfectly. You will thoroughly enjoy the performance, drivability and handling of this Chevelle.
Check out the interior! The black bench seats are in "like-new" condition and have seatbelts for all. In front of the driver is the Hurst shifter. The dash is in excellent condition and houses a set of aftermarket gauges mounted in the center, above the radio. Open up the glove box to find an aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD stereo. The headliner, door panels and carpet are all clean and in excellent condition. A fully restored trunk features spatter paint, a new mat and a jack and spare Polyglass tire combination.
A 1969 Chevelle is an excellent collector car. Why pay upwards of $125K for 'man cave' decoration when you can own the road in this fire-breathing '69 for half the price? It looks just as good.
