Honda Civic EG5 Trackcar Build
This is our '93 EG5 Civic track car build, No we dont have a mass of
experience, knowledge or a proper workshop to hand, This was our 2nd build
so we took some evidence along the way to remember it by, It was a little
rushed as we had only had '24 DAYS' to complete before its first track day
at castle combe, hope you enjoy or is of some help to anyone else !
JDM D15B EG race car on Toyo radials
I want to see how fast I can push my car with these 2nd hand Toyo street
tires. I also want to induce severe over-steer on hair pin and 2nd chicane
intentionally and practice on how to correct them. (however it did not
happen) Last race (Nitto &3K) I failed to correct successfully and cost my
EG6 race car learning how to track.
Chassis: EG (2door hatch), full roll cage.
Suspension: E-spec 2 way adjustable.
Brake: front ATC 2 piston caliber 280mm rotor, race brake pad, rear, stock
caliber and rotor.
Transmission: custom close ratio 3rd and 5th helical gears.
Interior: Anti-slip buckle seat, Sabelt 6 point harness, engine kill
switch*, emergency fire extinguisher* and release switch* (both engine kill
and extinguisher switch have 2nd switch at the hood for outside access*.
Fuel cell: Stock fuel tank, with sub-tank inside the car. Bosch fuel pump.
Engine: JDM D15B (race regulated at 1500cc or less). Light weight flywheel
with dual plate race clutch. Polyurethen engine mounts, JDM superchips
custom fuel map and raised rev limiter to 8500rpm. Lightened valve
retainer*. High profile camshaft*. Lightened & balanced crankshaft*. 12.5:1
Compression ratio*. B16C throttle body*, further enlarged with machining
work*. Custom intake manifold*, intake tube, high flow filter.
Exhaust: *4-1 header, *decat mid pipe,
*decat Exhaust pipe. Currently use
Mugen 4-2-1 street header, cat mid pipe and muffler.
Future upgrade: All items marked with *, AiM MXL Strada digital dash
display. Spot weld roll cage to car body to increase lateral stiffness. And
maybe custom 1st to 5th straight cut gear for less power lost.
