Taking a different approach by dropping a turbocharged stock 346ci LS1 engine into a lighter weight VL Commodore is a smart move. With just 8psi Boost on board and combating a flaring transmission on the night this Holden shows you can't beat cubic inches.
LS1 turbo V8 Mitsubishi Sigma
After a three year build up, Phil made the trip over from Adelaide to
Heathcote Raceway to debut his wicked sounding Mitsubishi Sigma for the
first time last weekend. Powered by a standard stroke 346ci LS1 engnie, a
Garrett GT42 turbo helped the car rocket
to a best pass of 9.8 at 140mph for the day.
LS1 Power - Turbo VN Commodore
Jason's Holden VN Commodore LS1PWR hits the drag strip for the first time
in two years. The car had run into the 9s using a stock internal 346ci
engine but is now powered by a 408ci stroker V8. The turbocharged VN blazes the tyres before netting a
9.45 at 152mph pass.

First of all, thank you all for pushing us past 30,000 subscribers! The
best is yet to come from NRE. This new small block engine uses NRE's big
88 MM Mirror turbos; that's unusual.
Look how quickly this engine glows the headers! It means business, yet it
is streetable. Keep in mind this engine is not from NRE's Warrior Series.

radials as well.

727 Cubic Inches and Australian Tire Smoke! - Roadkill Episode 10
On this episode of Roadkill, there's endless burnouts and powerskids as
David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of HOT ROD magazine are on the loose in
Australia with 727ci of Sonny Leonard hemi-headed madness. The massive
big-block makes 1,275 horsepower between the
fenders of a 2006 Holden HSV VE Clubsport R8. In American, that's like a
Pontiac G8. This display of overkill is the product of "Gup," the promoter
of the Powercruise series of events in Australia, New Zealand, and
Minnesota (USA) where tire smoke is the rule. On the show, you'll see tire
fire from Gup's infamous "Elvis" '74 Holden HQ, from his 727ci Clubbie,
from a 1,500ci diesel semi truck, and from Downunder's most throttle-happy
petrolheads on both coasts. The miracle is that Freiburger and Finnegan
aren't still in an Aussie jail. Of course, that might have been less
punishing than the 30-hour flight home.
Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the new Motor Trend channel.
