Grudge Race on the Interstate – Whipple Mustang GT vs. Ported Blower Corvette Z06

October 31st, 2023

Undiluted street racing coming at you, tonight. These guys are headed out to the interstate (in Mexico) for some max effort roll racing. The air is cool, but the asphalt is hot – and the lanes are empty. It’s an ideal evening for street racing shenanigans.

On the left is the 2014 Ford Mustang GT. Originally a naturally aspirated car with a 5.0-liter V8, this car has been upgraded with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger and all the support hardware. He’s claiming 800hp. The transmission is a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual. The ‘Stang has also undergone a degree of weight reduction and it’s tuned to burn E85 fuel.

In the right lane is the C7 (2014-2019) Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Z06 is the top of the heap for the Corvette lineup. This ‘Vette has been modified with supercharger porting, a performance camshaft and a full accoutrement of bolt-ons. It is tuned for E85 fuel and has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The interior is complete in the Chevy.

You could cut the tension with a knife as these two bruisers line up for the start. Racing commences at 50 mph. Whoever gets to 150 mph first is the winner.
