970WHP Mustang GT500 vs. 880WHP Corvette Z06 – Supercharged Street Hits

August 28th, 2023

My old Grandpa always said, “Believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see.” So, when some gearhead tells me that he added a pulley to his factory fresh Mustang – now he’s making 970hp to the rear wheels – I take it with a grain of salt. Tonight, he will have a chance to put his money where his mouth is as he lines it up against a modified Corvette Z06. Catch ahold of something and hang on tight ‘cause Betty Lou is getting down, tonight.

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that can make 760hp (stock). The GT500 that you’re looking at in this video has been upgraded with an upper blower pulley, a set of exhaust headers and an E85 Palm Beach Dyno tune. Most significantly, the supercharger has been ported by Kong Performance. This thing is making mad power and it sounds marvelous.

In the other lane, the C7 (2014-2019) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is no sloth. Under the hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 motor capable of producing 650hp in factory condition. Aftermarket mods include a Kong ported blower, a pulley upgrade, exhaust headers and an E85 tune (sound familiar). This Chevy moves like forked lightning.

Time for talking has come and gone. Let’s get these machines on the highway.
