96 Impala SS Road Race POCONO Raceway
Here is a blast around part of the NASCAR track in my 96 SS with a
supercharged 383 - as you will hear and see my passenger Gerry Massie was
very vocal - I guess I was making him nervous with my late braking. I think
we turned a 1:05 on this lap but I clearly took it easy thinking I would
get a 2nd chance but we ran out of time. Still a pretty cool vid. The car
before me was Nabil Guffey. Karl Ellwein makes a guest appearance in the
vid and you can hear the starter talking about Marc S's winning 58 second
lap in which he crashed. We definitely took it easy but even though it
looks 'slow' you can hear the tires squealing through some of those hairpin
Super car driver idiots [NO pics, only videos]
I got bored with all the "super car crashes"-videos here on YouTube that
only contained PICTURES, CRAPPY MUSIC or/and clips of pure racing cars on
official racing events.
This compilation DOES NOT include pure racing cars on official racing
events - only real life FAILures on the STREETS, made by people with more
money than driving skills...
(Though, even the best car drivers can crash too of course.)
Notice 1: The "Dodge Ram" may not be a super car, but still it's a SRT10
with the 8.3L Viper V10 which produces 510hp. Pretty super for a pick up,
don't you think? It has more power than several of the cars in this video.
The intention with this video was to show that skills doesn't come with
Notice 2: Tire is the preferred spelling in the U.S. and Canada. Tyre is
preferred in most varieties of English outside North America. And I'm from
Sweden. So please think outside your box (country), you who claims "tyre"
is incorrect spelling.
2009 Chevrolet Impala SS
We bought one of the first 2006 Impala's back in the fall of 2005 (an LS
with the 3.5 liter V-6), literally right off the car carrier. Despite
being wary of buying the first production year of ANYTHING, we loved that
car! We were impressed with the performance of the 3.5 and it was a GREAT
As you might have guessed, being a "motor head", I enjoy performance just
for the sake of performance, I do a LOT of highway driving. I could get
consistently between 29 and 31 MPG's with the 2006 (depending on headwind
vs tailwind) at "rural Kansas speeds". The only gripe I had actually were
the sun visors, after about a year, they stopped staying up, I eventually
put some velcro on the headliner. Obviously, a "first year issue"...
However, time marches on and "The Rocket" as the kids named our first one,
had 71,000 miles on it. Since we finally got a decent refund, we thought
we would stop by the Chevy dealer and see what was what.
We had honestly set out to get an LTZ with the 3.9 liter, but we made a
critical mistake! We took the SS out for a test drive... "Go ahead sir...
mash her down once... No I mean REALLY mash it" The rest as they say is
We LOVE the 5.3 liter V-8... the heated leather, the BOSE, the power seats,
the steering wheel audio controls, the On-Star. People ask.. but what
about the GAS milleage? I simply respond, "I did NOT buy THIS CAR for gas
milleage..." I reach in my pocket and trip the remote start, when the V-8
rumbles to life I continue... "I bought it for THAT!"
With the changes at GM... I am glad I got my modern, slick and striking
muscle car before WE are force fed "Chevettes" again....
