AWD Audi RS 3 vs. RWD Dodge Challenger Hellcat – Drag Race

February 2nd, 2024

Knives are out in this one. Word has it that a drastically modified Dodge Challenger Hellcat will be taking on a similarly upgraded Audi RS 3 in a series of 1,000-foot drag races. Well, we can’t miss that. So, we join the usual suspects at the Hoonigan facility. Get a load of this:

Mopar Mike is on hand with his rear-wheel drive 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat (sort of). Under the hood is a Whipple (4.5-liter) supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 with forged internals. This pink thing is good for 1,200whp. The Dodge tips the scale at 4,400-pounds and uses an 8-speed automatic transmission. Get this, the Hellcat is on air bag suspension. Sure, this Hellcat looks like a beast, but can it get traction when the rubber hits the road?

In the other lane is the all-wheel drive 2018 Audi RS 3.  This sedan is well heeled with a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline 5-cylinder engine putting down 860whp through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It certainly has the weight advantage, coming in at a svelte 3,600-pounds. You can’t discount the IROZ 1000 turbo package that the Audi is rocking. This car is clean, and the owner is quite willing to do something strange for some change.

Shall we get these two lined up and see who can get all that power to the pavement most efficiently?
