All-Motor Camaro vs. Turbo Infiniti Q50 – Street Hits

February 24th, 2024

The weekend is prime time for street racing and these two competitors are ripe for the action. We have a naturally aspirated Chevrolet Camaro going against a turbocharged Infiniti Q50 sedan. It’s about to get rambunctious on these streets (in Mexico).

A luxury Japanese sedan, the all-wheel drive Infiniti Q50 is powered by a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Engine composition includes an aluminum block with aluminum cylinder heads in a dual overhead cam configuration with direct fuel injection. The stock Q50 (Red Sport) can manufacture 400hp at peak RPM and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5-seconds. Featured in this video is a Q50 that has been upgraded with full bolt-ons, an E85 tune and some degree of weight reduction.

The Chevrolet Camaro LT1 has a 6.2-liter V8 working under the hood. Mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, the big V8 can produce 455hp and turn the quarter-mile in 12.2-seconds @ 118 mph. In factory trim, this Camaro could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9-seconds. The Camaro in this video has been modified with a full accoutrement of bolt-ons, an E85 tune and a hi-ram intake manifold. It sounds great!

Pulling alongside one another at a starting speed of 40 mph, the call rings out and sheer acceleration commences. Surprisingly, the Infiniti lurches ahead to an early advantage. Can the turbocharged import hang on for the win? Will the Camaro overtake the Q50 and take the victory?
