Taking on the Plaid today is an insane 2004 Chevrolet Silverado stepside pickup. Like the Tesla, the Silverado is all-wheel drive. That’s where the similarities end. Far from stock, this Chevy is powered by a twin turbocharged 7.0-liter LSX V8 engine that can make upwards of 1,500hp. The transmission is a Rossler Racing TH400 automatic. Amazingly, the transfer case, front axles and front suspension are all stock. Interestingly, the Silverado weighs nearly 1,000-pounds less than the Tesla sedan. By the way, this truck holds the record for fastest all-wheel drive Silverado in the quarter-mile (8.30-seconds).
On the agenda today is a heads-up drag race to 1,000-feet. My prediction? It’s about to get ugly for the Tesla.
