Competing in the Small Tire Class and the Big Tire Class, this Chevy launched out of the hole and into the finals (of both classes) despite having a stock small block engine with a cast iron intake (single-carb) and only one kit (fogger plate) of nitrous.
No-Prep drag racing presents its own peculiar list of challenges to every racer daring enough to compete. At (or near) the top of the list is a general lack of traction. Whether you are coming off the line or changing gears midway down the track, smoking the tires in a total loss of traction is always a possibility.
On this day in Iowa, this Nova was setup to provide a near perfect balance between power and traction. It was coming out of the hole as slick as a whistle and blasting through the 1320 like a bullet, despite swapping tires and wheels to compete in multiple classes.
There is some great No-Prep action in this video with marvelous camera angles. Give it a gander!
