Late Model Racecraft (LMR) is quietly producing some of the baddest Chevy street cars through high-performance aftermarket modification and tuning. Today, these guys are taking one of their latest project cars out for some real-world tuning. Let’s see what happens when a fellow citizen on a sport bike issues a friendly challenge.

The car is a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The Z06 is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 capable of producing 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. LMR has added a simple bolt-on package that includes a Quartz Performance heat exchanger. It is slightly larger than the factory unit. The lower crankshaft pulley is also upgraded and there is a flex fuel kit added to accommodate the use of E85. Once the aftermarket mods are performed, a trip to the dynamometer reveals an increase of roughly 100hp to the rear wheels. Not to bad for a handful of bolt-ons.

From the dyno, it’s off to the streets for some fine tuning. Not long after leaving the shop, a guy on a Ducati (entry level) throws down the gauntlet. The technician/tuner reluctantly decides to accept the challenge and utilize the street hits to gather tuning data.

A bit intimidated by the Ducati name, the driver of the ‘Vette figures that the bike will walk him pretty easily. As the two competitors roll alongside one another and engage in competition, it quickly becomes apparent that the basic sport bike is no match for this gently modified Chevy.
