It looks to me that your cam is to blame. Id go for a 270 470 comp cam it has proven to me to be the best cam so far out there. For the small block.

I think your cam is ok for this combo. The only thing I might suggest based on engine is a Edelbrock RPM Air Gap Manifold. This is what we run on our 71 Nova 355 and is very impressive. All dyno test seen with this are great especially for torque.

Oh and watch out for 1.6 rocker ratio with stock iron heads. Most don't have clearence for pushrod since the arm length on rocker is shorter. Found out the hard way!

This is my sons car it hasn't been a very good combo so far. We're going to try 4.11 gears and 1.6 rocker arms next.we're shifting at 5500 RPM and are raising this to 6500.Car launches very lazy!!!
