The first vehicle we look at is a 1970 Ford F100 (shortbed) pickup. An all-out race truck, this beast has a built 532 cubic-inch Ford big block motor with a pair of 75-millimeter turbochargers. The owner/operator is claiming 1,100hp to the rear wheels. It’ll be interesting to see if he can put that power to the ground on this challenging surface.
Next, we are introduced to a crazy Subaru build. This tiny sedan is powered by a turbocharged 5.3-liter Chevy LS V8 engine. The transmission is a manual Tremec T-56 6-speed, and the independent rear end is factory Subaru – including the axles. Time bomb?
Then we have a Toyota MR-2 with a K24 Honda engine and a turbo. These mid-engine Honda swaps are typically pretty fast because of their ability to get grip when nobody else can.
He’s claiming 500hp to the rear wheels.
The agenda consists of a round of testing followed by some heads-up racing. The F100 is up first. Buckle-up!
