Turbo AWD Acura Integra vs. Porsche 918 Spyder – Drag Race

This race represents auto enthusiasts from both ends of the economic spectrum. The Porsche comes in with a price tag of about $1.5-million. On the other hand, the Acura is custom built from salvage parts and aftermarket performance goodies. Safe to say, it’s worth far less than the 918. The real question is, can the modified Acura keep up with the stock Porsche on the dragstrip?

The all-wheel drive 918 Spyder features a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 engine and a pair of electric motors. All combined, the Spyder can generate 887hp and 944 lb.-ft. of torque. The Porsche also has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with launch control. Car and Driver Magazine says the Spyder can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.2-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 9.8-seconds @ 148.5 mph.

In the other lane is the JDM Acura Integra Type R. This car has been outfitted with an all-wheel drivetrain from a Honda wagon and a turbocharger kit. The transmission is now a sequentially shifted racing unit. As it sits, the Acura is capable of making approximately 922hp.

Let’s get these ponies on the strip and let them run!
