Night Drags – C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 vs Acura NSX

February 26th, 2021

Import versus domestic is the new standard grudge match when it comes to virtually every form of racing. The grudge is well represented in this contest between the flagship of the GM lineup and the best that Acura (Honda) has to offer. Both vehicles are stock (or nearly stock).

The C7 (2014-2019) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a beast of a street car. Equipped with an LT4 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, the C7 Z06 can make 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The LT4 power plant features such innovative performance components as Rotocast A356T6 aluminum cylinder heads and a 1.7-liter Eaton R1740 TVS supercharger. This version of the Corvette can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5-seconds and has a top speed of 196 mph. It can turn the quarter-mile in 11.9-seconds at 126 mph.

A mid-engine, all-wheel drive vehicle, the Acura NSX is powered by a combination of and internal combustion engine and a trio of electric motors. The 3.5-liter twin turbocharged V6 and one electric motor operate the rear axle while the remaining motors operate the front. The combination is good for 573hp (476 lb.-ft. of torque) with a top speed of 191 mph. The latest version of the NSX can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.7-seconds and turn the quarter-mile in 11.2-seconds at 124 mph.

Let’s see what happens when these two killers line up on the drag strip.
