2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT 1/4 mile Drag Racing trap speed 0-60
(Luke R)
just curious, why is this pt cruiser putting out 211 hp and 318 ft lb when it is rated for 230 hp and 245 ft lb? Also, why is the turbo boost rated at 16.7 psi when 15 psi is the max the majority of owners are experiencing?
Thanks
(Jeff)
Hello Luke,
First off, the horsepower rating is rated at the crank from the factory, not at the wheels. So, what you see here is what the dyno pull runs showed using Mopar stage 1 computer and some other goodies added on. Stage 1 allows the PT to boost higher than 15 pounds so 16.7 is not abnormal but it is not that common. Realizing that this PT has an automatic transmission and the parasitic loss through the transmission is close to 30% should then bring the numbers inline if they were measured at the crank. 211 horsepower at the wheels is around 274 at the crank and 318 foot pounds of torque at the wheels is around 404 at the crank.
I hope this makes sense,
Jeff Meyer
