Additional Information

  • The reason I posted this is because I would probably tear this car up before running this time again. I had an incredible launch (thanks, in part, to the stiff coilovers helping with grip) with a virtually flawless reaction time - the track temp was probably near perfect for the launch - and the wind was blowing straight down-track. First gear went with out a hitch and I caught the nicest chirp of the tires in 2nd, which is, by far, the absolute best gear on my car. I also powershifted every gear and, even with 3rd being boggy, I caught it at an unusually high RPM, keeping VTEC only a second or two away. I didn't even end up using 4th. My rev limiter had to be ready to pounce, because I was crossing the 1/4mi at redline+.
To this day, I haven't come close to matching that time. In the summer months, when I run this setup in 90 degree weather, I run consistently around 16.7, and I ran a couple times when it was down around 70 and I pulled 16.4 and 16.5.
I know 15.6 isn't this incredible time, but for a car that runs 17sec stock, and I've only put about 200.00 in parts and fabricated the intake and cat-back setup myself, I'll take it. You have to take into account that, with leather interior, sunroof, and all available options, this car weighs 3120lbs stock and, with what I've done to it, I MAY have dropped 50lbs at the very most.
Anyway, the next step is computer tuning. Other than some weight reduction, that's all I'm looking forward to performance-wise. I will be adding a few more things cosmetically, but I'm leaving it as clean as can be.
**NOTE - not that it's relevant, but, on the street, I run on Velox VX8's and 40series tires, which I got in trade for the BSA's in the photo.**
