Super Diesel Dyno and Drag Racing

The Super Diesel Shootout, presented by Shell, features some of the most powerful diesel powered light-duty trucks on the planet. There is even a diesel powered top fuel dragster. The Overkill single-cab Chevrolet Silverado in this video not only made a 9.47-second pass @ 145.37 mph but also posted a high-water mark of 1,700-horsepower and 2,500 lb.-ft. of torque on the dyno – that’s right, 2,500.

The power comes from a 6.6-liter Duramax LB7 engine, balanced and bored .040 over by Performance RPM and Machine in Idaho Falls, Idaho. A stock crankshaft turns Carrillo connecting rods and Mahle forged pistons. New Industrial Injection CNC-ported cylinder heads sport screw-in Torque Lock injector cups and fuel is supplied via a pair of FASS 260-gph lift pumps supporting dual Industrial Injection CP3 injection pumps and 42-lpm eight-hole injectors. A direct port nitrous system provides a small shot to light the PPE compound turbo kit that consists of a Garrett GT45X turbo and a GT55 turbo. The suspension is full-custom coli-over.
